I first met Anisa Stewart at a fishing trade show, but she goes to my gym and sometimes I see her out on the water!
She started making jewelry as an apprentice for a local (Fort Myers, Florida) award-winning jeweler, Mark Loren, while still in high school and worked with him for a total of 15 years. She has won four National Design Awards. In 2006, she launched Anisa Stewart Designs.
She makes all the jewelry with the wax casting method, which starts with carving an original wax model. The wax is molded, burnt out and molten metal is poured in. This process allows for great detail.
It’s the type of jewelry you can wear on a boat or on a hiking trail without feeling silly. I wouldn’t call it “rugged” because it’s too beautiful. But it’s got some substance to it and it’s comfortable both for both body and spirit. The kind of thing you can wear every day for the rest of your life.
